News/Blog

Kentish Town Stores - NW3 6TE:

The “Simple Mug.” (Top left) Picked by Luci, owner of Kentish Town Stores.

This piece is made by a polish maker based in Edinburgh. Aku Ceramics. Grey stoneware mug glazed inside and out in “Loch”. £40 and available in store now.

Half Cut Market (Top middle) - N7 9LW:

UBE Miraflores from Bodegas Cota 45. Picked by co-owner of Half Cut Market, Danny.

Native winemaker, Ramiro Ibáñez, built his small bodega in a former boat repair shop overlooking the river. This wine is made from Palomino grapes (the grape used for most sherry production) grown on the legendary local Albariza white chalk soil in vineyards 45 metres above sea level - the point at which Ramiro believes the soils best express themselves. This is an unfortified sherry style wine, aged under flor for a deliciously concentrated taste of chamomile, green almonds and yellow plum. It’s a really great wine to drink with food as there’s so much going on.

Provision Bermondsey - SE1 3PA:

The 'Stubby Bench.’ (Top right) Picked by Nick, owner of Provision.

We are Bàrd Books - E3 5QR:

'Some Strange Music Draws Me In' by Griffin Hansbury (Bottom left). A team pick.

‘This was our September book club choice, a transgender coming of age story, and a perfect read to begin a new season with.  Full of 80s nostalgia and thought-provoking topics.  We've sold more copies of this book than any other in our shop since we've opened.  Book club is the last Thursday of every month and is consistently fully booked.’

Amie Wine Studio (Bottom middle) - SW1W 9AZ:

Crémant de Limoux. Picked by Alex, studio manager at Amie.

‘As a sparkling wine it is fantastic value for money - as an alternative to Champagne this is A grade! It resembles very similar characteristics in taste and style. Furthermore, having visited the vineyard outside of Carcassonne, the passion that goes into the making of this wine is extraordinary, making it all the more interesting!’

Mahala - N8 8PL:

Indian kantha quilts (bottom right image). Picked by Emily, owner of Mahala.

‘We currently have our biggest collection yet, with around 200 of them to choose from. Each one is unique and is it's own piece of art. If they're looked after they can last a lifetime and they bring so much joy. I can't not look at this one and not smile. They can instantly change the feeling of a room, either on the bed, over a sofa or like this as a wall hanging.’
